OA has many sayings
One says, “Welcome Home”
Before you leave, we want you to know
You don’t have to go it alone

We’ve sat where you are
We’ve been where you’ve been
We know the same pain
We, too, longed to be thin

We learned to trust others
To share hope and strength
When we finally decided
To go to any length

We found acceptance and love
The unconditional kind
We’re learning to accept ourselves
And leave our pasts behind

We’re learning to take
One day at a time
It’s a new way of living
From a Power divine

Abstinence we strive for
Til we find it’s a gift
From our Higher Power
Whom we learn to trust for it

We learned we have an illness
That we’re not a hopeless case
If we turn it over
And get back in the race

We’re given Tools to rebuild our lives
We’ve even found a true home
And special friends are always there
As near as a telephone

We’re given Twelve Steps to recovery
And our own special Promises too
But we can’t keep what we have until we give it away—
We’d like to give it to you

Please give us a chance
‘Cause so many have cared about us
We love you and need you
As much as we hope you need us

We put our hand in yours
And we sincerely care
Please keep coming back
And we offer you our prayers

It really works if you work it,
but it won’t if you don’t
So work it ‘cause you’re worth it!

To all OA, with love: past, present, and future.
