Recovery Online Recovery By admin Posted on March 10, 2016 3 min read 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr I was working more than sixty hours a week when I returned to program after years of relapse. Most of the meetings I could attend were online, with just a sprinkling of telephone and face-to-face meetings. Online meetings saved my recovery many times, since I didn’t finish work until after the face-to-face meetings in my city were over for the night. Thanks to the online meetings, I developed a group of OA pals via email. We checked in with each other weekly to see how our recovery was progressing. I met people who were unable to leave their homes due to health issues and other members who weren’t lucky enough to live in an area with regular face-to-face OA meetings. Fortunately, I also found an online sponsor. Though 3,000 miles (4,828 km) separated us, she shared her experience, strength, hope, and love as though we were next-door neighbors. During this online meeting period, I sponsored as well; I had two sponsees, sharing recovery by email and telephone. The relationships I fostered through online and telephone meetings are ones I will cherish throughout my lifetime. I’m grateful to have a network of OA pals that reaches across the globe. Now that my work schedule is more reasonable, I attend one face-to-face meeting per week and use the other Tools on a regular basis. I’m extremely grateful to know that online meetings are available every few hours around the clock. Along with telephone meetings, online meetings are great for a lunch hour or when I’m home sick. Anyone can get a list of online and telephone meetings by visiting oa.org and clicking Find a Meeting. Thank you for letting me share. — Elizabeth B., Santa Ana, California USA
