Service Telephone Dream By admin Posted on March 10, 2016 4 min read 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr This Monday around 6:45 a.m., I dreamed that I was at an OA telephone meeting with more than one hundred other people. A delightful woman led the meeting that began with the Serenity Prayer. Then people volunteered to read from Twelve Step literature. After that, several people shared their experience, strength, and hope. This must have been a dream because it fit my new goals so exactly. On Sunday, I had been in touch with several of my dearest friends, all of whom were facing a health or personal crisis. As I listened to them and shared words of encouragement, I was reminded once again how important it is to take care of myself. I had an inner resolve that was stronger than ever, and I wanted to challenge myself to take my focus on health to the next level. I wanted to start going to bed earlier and getting up earlier as well. I had done my own nonscientific research on the habits of successful people. One thing they have in common is that they all get up early each morning. Getting adequate sleep has long been a priority. One lesson I’ve learned is that getting up early is a two-step process. In order for it to work, I need to go to bed early. Contrarily, I stayed up very late on Sunday. I read an OA newsletter, and there on page 2 was a listing of national telephone meetings. For a number of reasons, I hadn’t tried any. I had continued to use other Tools, had stayed in touch with several OA friends nearby, and had telephone meetings with a dear friend in another state (which we have done for decades). After hundreds of these telephone meetings, I know firsthand how effective telephone meetings are. I must have been dreaming when I dialed in early Monday morning. The timing was just right because it motivated me to get up, the topics were on target, and it being a telephone meeting made it even more special. I also dreamed at the end of the meeting there was an announcement about other telephone meetings, seven days a week. We were told to go online to oa.org for a complete listing. Does this mean I can continue to join meetings from home? At times that work for me? See, I told you I must have been dreaming. Whatever you do, please don’t wake me from this wonderful OA dream. Thank God, thank OA, and thank you. — C.P., North Carolina USA
