Available to Everyone

Here are a few ways I carry the message to other compulsive overeaters.

I print out OA’s Courier newsletter and give copies to my health care practitioners. I let them know I’m available should one of their patients or clients want to learn more about OA.

I tell close friends I’m happy to talk to anyone they know who wants help with compulsive eating, starving, or bingeing. I give my friends permission to share my telephone number with suffering people. One friend gave her relative my number. After we had a conversation, the relative decided to come to meetings with me.

At meetings, I write down newcomers’ phone numbers from our call log. On the way home, I call newcomers and let them know I’m available for questions or shares. This helps each newcomer know that she or he is not alone.
