Working the Program Safe Deposit By admin Posted on September 1, 2017 1 min read 1 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr Restaurant meals can be unmanageable even when I order abstinent food. Portions are huge, with side dishes often comprised of multiple carbohydrates. Good self-care requires that I ask for substitutions, so I do. And I always ask servers to bring a take-home box to me along with the food I order. I often have to restate this request again when my food arrives, since bringing take home boxes right away is not always part of servers’ routines, but OA has taught me patience—I will ask for a box until they bring it. Before I take my first bite, I slip the excess food into the box and close the lid. It would be too tempting to overeat if I left all that food on my plate while I ate; many studies have shown that people are likely to eat food sitting in front of them regardless of hunger.
