Fellowship Courage and Magic By admin Posted on October 1, 2019 2 min read 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr I love OA retreats and workshops. I want to tell my OA fellows to jump in, don’t hesitate, make the commitment, and just go! I sometimes hesitate, but once I’ve gotten up the courage to commit to a retreat, magic happens! I show up and participate, just as I do in my OA recovery. I connect with people like me and see them letting their hair down—literally and figuratively! It gives me permission to be myself, to let go of perfectionism, and to think of how I can help another attendee who may be brand new to the retreat or to OA. Workshops tend to be easier to digest as they’re usually one-day events. I’ve participated in and served at many of them, and they’re a great way to shore up one’s program and get out of isolation. I try to attend and support local workshops whenever possible and always feel honored and grateful when asked to speak at one of them. Participation in any Overeaters Anonymous event expands my circle of community and makes me feel better about myself. Thank you to all who have put together retreats or workshops for the betterment of OA. — L.E.N. Find OA events at Event Calendar.
