Abstinence Life List By admin Posted on October 3, 2016 2 min read 2 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr This Twelve Step program has saved my life. I have been maintaining a 50 pound (23 kg) weight release for thirty wonderful years and am at my ideal body weight. This is a miracle; generations of women in my family have suffered from food addiction and premature death. I use slogans constantly to help keep me on track, and I’ve amassed a huge collection. Here are some: Abstinence is a relief, not a punishment. Act your way into right thinking. After you take that first bite—phone! Balance is better. Be kind to your mind. Counter contempt with civility. Do the next right thing. Eat light and feel right; eat right and feel light. Get “good enough” abstinence. If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. If you sleep for eight hours, you won’t eat for eight hours. Just because you’re invited to an argument does not mean you have to attend. Now we know, so now we grow. Prayer is talking to HP; meditation is listening. Quit stuffing your face and start facing your stuff. Substitute fellowship for food. The more you give, the more you get. The sweetness you are looking for in life does not come from food. When we know better, we do better. —Barbara, Ashland, Ohio USA Editor’s note: More from Barbara’s list of slogans appears on the front cover of the October 2016 print issue.
