Meetings Tools & Concepts The Regulars By admin Posted on March 1, 2019 3 min read 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr We call ourselves “The Regulars,” although there’s nothing regular about any of us, except this: we keep coming back to our 7 a.m. meetings, Monday through Friday, week after week. Many of us come every day, some only on certain days, and several core members have been showing up for many years. What, you may ask, would drive us to crawl out of bed at the crack of dawn, to suit up and show up over and over again? For me, the power of love emanating from those committed regulars magically pulls me out of my slumber, even on the darkest mornings, and that power gives me the strength to face another day. I remember the incredible honesty, support, and unconditional love of yesterday’s meeting. I feel joy and gratitude when I drive up and see familiar cars, even if only one or two have arrived initially. Some come late and some leave early, but no one seems to mind. At times, a newcomer shows up and is always warmly welcomed. He or she often feels touched by the wisdom, humor, and openness of our shares. We are all different, with unique gifts and quirks. I have grown to know and love every one of these people. They have taught me how to love others and love myself more dearly. Our special circle is like an amazing vortex that takes our pain and allows us to share the sweetest, saddest things, then gives us the courage to go on and the willingness to stay abstinent one more day. It is a sacred space that calls us to be healed, share what’s in our hearts, and begin each day affirming our highest truth: that God and abstinence are the most important things in our lives. — Terri R., San Diego, California USA
