Meetings Tools & Concepts Q&A Soirée By admin Posted on May 1, 2019 1 min read 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr Last year in January, I decided that a good OA service I could provide would be to offer a newcomers’ question-and-answer session every three or four months. (I’ve been an abstinent member of Overeaters Anonymous since 2000, and I’m maintaining a healthy body weight.) I simply kept a list of all the newcomers who attended the meeting I go to and then I’d call and invite them to an upcoming Q&A, briefly explaining what to expect. If they replied to my phone call, I’d send them a text with the address and all the information they might need to attend an OA Q&A. I offered four of these sessions in 2018, finding that attendance was small but powerful. I got so much out of hearing these brave newcomers actually come to talk and share, sometimes to a virtual stranger, sometimes to someone they’d been seeing in meetings for weeks. It’s been a wonderful service experience, and I hope to continue it in 2019. — GVB, Herndon, Virginia USA
