Share It Cookout Call-Out By admin Posted on January 1, 2019 1 min read 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr My husband and I are headed to a cookout— we’ll enjoy the company of friends, late-summer swimming, and card games. There will be delicious food as well, but that is neither the sole nor the primary reason for me to go to this cookout. I appreciate the reminders of the gifts of recovery in “Recovery Celebration” (July 2018). I too have the freedom to “celebrate special occasions . . . without food being the main focus.” Before recovery, this cookout would have been a several-hours binge for me. Now, my main focus is a national holiday to celebrate and enjoy with family and friends. The author also wrote that she can choose any piece of clothing from her wardrobe “and know it will fit me from one day and one season to the next.” As can I: my swim gear is ten years old and fits just fine. Recovery is indeed a celebration; it gives me tools to live well physically, emotionally, and spiritually every single day. — Mike B., Parkville, Maryland USA
