Tools & Concepts Writing Worthy of Writing By admin Posted on September 1, 2018 2 min read 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr I feel that writing is one of the most valuable Tools in our OA toolbox. It’s available twenty-four hours a day and is a way to connect with our own thoughts and feelings and be nurtured and nourished, which is what I’m always seeking as a compulsive overeater. At any given time, I have on hand several journals for writing, but most of them are simple, lined-paper types of notebooks. They’re inexpensive and do not require that my writing be special in any way. One day, I questioned myself about what it would take to live my life more fully. As I was thinking about this, I found a notebook I’d bought for myself several years before that wasn’t getting used. The reason it sat untouched was because it was a very fancy notebook with very high-quality paper, imported. It was large and beautiful, and I’d deemed it too precious for my everyday, run-of-the-mill, ordinary musings. Anyone who journals might be able to relate: the fact is, the notebook one chooses to use can affect how one feels about writing. I spoke to my sponsor about my idea to use the fancy journal for the following two weeks (there were about fourteen pages left). What a novel idea to allow myself to feel worthy of writing in a beautiful notebook I’d been saving for some special occasion. What if I could acknowledge that even my everyday thoughts and feelings are special, just because they’re my own and don’t need to measure up to some unknown standard? — Terry S
